webdesign, 1991-2015

http://fabianburghardt.de/webolution/ is a smart little tour of the evolution of webdesign from 1991-2015, showing one site from NASA as it might have appeared over the years. I've been trying to sharpen my thinking about the specific aspects of new vs old. Sometimes the new stuff seems so blatantly template driven... I'm taking a Graphics Design course with DesignLab, when my instructor looks at my current stuff like kirk.is, in juxtaposition with stuff that is showing its age like loveblender.com, she sees a consistency- like, simplicity, but then with small little icon surprises. Maybe I should run with that, and not just because I find it an easy style to pull off.
